I’d Become a Regular
We here in Arizona have been lucky enough not to be experiencing the east coast’s constant rain and drastically dropping temperatures. While I’ve heard my PA alma mater received almost 10 inches of snow, we just suffered through another 100+ degree weekend. Though I never thought I’d say it - I actually find myself missing the cool, crisp air of autumn, what some deem “sweater weather”. The beginning of October did bring some cooler days and nights to us before soaring back to the desert inferno. One can certainly belief D and I used these brisker days to partake in our favorite past time…outdoor eating.
Darin and I decided to hit up Wally’s American Pub N’Grille in Phoenix before setting out to run some much needed errands. Despite being housed in one of the many, many, many area shopping plazas, Wally’s brought to me a sense of neighborhood and community. The irish pub feel instantly brought back my memories of small town West Chester, PA. The combination of refreshing air, dogs on the patio and football on the tv wrapped me with a homey and comfortable feel. Could this be a place where everyone grows to know our names?

Darin had been to Wally’s once before years ago and remembered he ordered some kind of bacon pasta. And there on the menu, in all it’s glory it was - Bacon & Three Cheeses. Astonishing to me, Darin opted to go with the Bourbon Street Pasta this time around. Now, it wasn’t that the Bourbon Pasta didn’t seem 100% Darin - but for him to pass down Bacon AND cheese, it just isn’t like him! :) The Bourbon Street Pasta included spicy chicken, andouille sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, green bell peppers and penne pasta in a spicy chipotle sauce and satisfied every craving.

I also choose to satisfy my “comfort food” craving ordering the go to pub favorite, Fish N’ Chips. A nice portion of Icelandic cod covered in a not-too-heavy batter and a smattering of both regular and sweet potato fries. MMM, I can taste it now.
