This Bigfoot Ain’t No Myth

Why does it seem like every other post i do on here is about a BBQ place? Hmmmmm…

We’re quickly running out of new BBQ joints here in the phoenix area to try, so we’ve expanded our culinary horizons on a recent trip to flagstaff and got lunch at the fun, and funky, Bigfoot BBQ. As is true with any good BBQ place, the smoky smell of meats being cooked low and slow is evident the second you walk in, preparing your mouth for the tender carniverous gift about to be bestowed upon it. The thing is with Bigfoot BBQ, is that its actually in a clothing store. I always encourage Julie to buy a piece or two of clothing when we’re there so i can take that smoky smell home with us. I can always tell when julie is wearing a shirt from that store because i find myself drooling and craving BBQ…though wait, that’s everyday for me. So yeah, its in the back end of a clothing store. Pretty funky setup, but it works. Sectioned off by a chain linked fence, once inside you’re welcomed by long picnic style wooden tables, old weathered painted wooden signs, various other retro memorabilia, peanut shells all over the floor, buckets of cheap beer, and some decent BBQ. They even have a couple couched off sections with tv’s if you’d like to to relax and watch a game while enjoying your meal. Its almost like you’re just hanging in your trashy friends basement or backyard. The peanut thing has been done before, but that’s always fun. Rarely are you encouraged to make a mess in a restaurant, but here it’s part of the experience. Then comes the meat, which was good. I’d say above average. Not the best, not the worst, but certainly closer to the top than the bottom. Their home made house BBQ sauce was also quite delicious. What i do like about Bigfoot BBQ is that the menu goes beyond the usual BBQ items normally seen on a menu. I didnt get to try any of them YET, but they had some unique BBQ creations that i look forward to trying.

Would i go back? I’m not driving up to Flagstaff specifically for Bigfoot BBQ, but if i’m in town and craving BBQ, i’d go back in a second.

Peanuts, Obviously.
